How Epoxy Flooring Pittsburgh Works

Epoxy Flooring Pittsburgh puts resin coatings on concrete: garages, basements, workshops, warehouses, clinics and other commercial floors in Pittsburgh and the townships and boroughs around it. Our systems are epoxy, flake broadcast, polyaspartic and metallic, and the choice between them waits until the slab has been tested and looked over in person.

This region is hard on concrete in its own particular ways. Winters bring snow, slush and a lot of road salt. Hillside lots put garages and basements below grade, where slabs stay cool and damp. Many homes are old enough that their basement floors were poured long before vapor barriers were standard. Each of those conditions changes the primer, the number of coats and the topcoat we recommend, so we look before we price.

How we work

  • A visit comes first: we measure the space and check the concrete for moisture.
  • We look for old paint or sealer, oil, salt pitting, cracks, spalled edges and signs of past water.
  • Your written quote spells out the system by name, every coat, every prep step and a single total.
  • We diamond grind each slab down to clean, open concrete, which gives the coating a surface it can lock onto. We do not rely on acid etching.
  • Pits, cracks and chipped joints get patched, then ground level, before any color is applied.
  • Before each coat we check slab temperature, air temperature, humidity and dew point. When those readings are off, we pick another day.
  • You learn ahead of time when walking, moving belongings back and parking a car are each safe, based on the product and the conditions on install day.
  • If the scope changes once work starts, we write up the change and you approve it before we go on.

Limits we explain before you hire us

A coating is a surface. It does not stop groundwater coming through a wall, it does not fix a slab that is heaving or cracked from movement, and it is not radon mitigation. If we see one of those problems at the estimate, we say so plainly and suggest you deal with it first. Concrete is the only thing we coat; wood, tile and vinyl floors are outside what we do.
